"Taken from a music video originally created for techno artist Doruksen, these stills have been overlaid and colourised to enhance the kaleidoscopic visual palette associated with hard acid techno - hues and forms flowing into each other, prompting new associations, with original structures still visible but appearing as if viewed through a thick, glowing fog.
The footage for the majority of these stills was shot at a basement rave organised by Mayhem back in 2021, when covid restrictions were just being lifted and the world was starting to look a little less bleak. They embody the feeling that was all around us during this time, the excitement and desire for reunion that was growing stronger as the end to months of isolation was drawing ever closer.
We could hardly await the return to the sweaty basements and grimy nightclubs, to the drunken encounters and late-night escapades, but most of all to the pulsating, all-encompassing sound of electronic music. If you listen closely, you might still hear it resonating through these images."
